The course
The aim of the specialist course, ideally for those who already have skills in pattern making, is to train professional figures able to use CAD technologies for the management of patterns, both created on paper and then digitalised, and created directly on digital media by drawing from a company’s archive.
Based on the technologies and most advanced tools for the fashion sector, it provides the trainee to become a CAD operator, a key figure in the industrial process of designing and producing fashion collections. The course is designed in a series of lessons held on Saturday mornings. Lessons in Italian (English simultaneous interpreter service on demand).
Target students
The course is aimed at anyone with basic IT skills. Knowledge of pattern making is recommended.
SERVICES & TOOLS
Reserved web area, Wi-Fi, teaching notes and texts, CAD Lectra software. The software, installed on the students’ PCs for the whole duration of the course, is from the LECTRA suite, world leader in CAD for clothing solutions and the most widely used by fashion companies.

- Insertion of base-size tested sewing patterns – digitalisation. Size development rules and practice on all types of patterns. Pattern placement rules. Creating pattern placements.
- CAD technologies: CAD in the industrial context. Creating your workstation.
Familiarisation with pattern-making and size development software.
- Transforming the various patterns directly on CAD. Size development, placement and filing. Creating base patterns on screen. Size development and placement.
