Five projects reach the final of the CNA Federmoda Contest

A new important achievement for the Fashion Design degree course: no fewer than five students have been selected as finalists in the 36th edition of the National Fashion Profession Competition for Young Designers promoted by CNA Federmoda.

The competition, one of the most prestigious events dedicated to emerging talents in Italian fashion, selected the finalists from over one thousand projects submitted by schools and academies from across Italy, confirming its role as a key platform for promoting creativity and fostering dialogue between education and the fashion industry.

The five Modartech students will take part in the final stage of the contest, which includes workshops, meetings with industry professionals, and the final fashion show scheduled to take place in Florence this July.

Among the selected projects:

Alessio Camerini with “Trauma”, a streetwear collection that interprets clothing as a form of protection through soft volumes, technical materials, and urban influences.
Francesca Montano with “Nativa”, a contemporary interpretation of Lucanian tradition through artisanal craftsmanship and references to the rural heritage of Basilicata.
Lisa Montecchi with “Hybridæ”, a research project that transforms elements of sports equipment into an energetic and experimental urbanwear language.
Greta Orlandi with “Nomadica”, a reflection on nomadic and multicultural identity translated into organic textures and tactile craftsmanship.
Martina Tenace with “Direzione 10”, a collection inspired by the imagery of Brazilian favelas and football as a symbol of freedom and redemption.

An achievement that once again confirms the value of the Modartech educational path and the students’ ability to stand out in the leading national competitions dedicated to contemporary fashion.

Finalists of the “Next Gen Leather Designers” contest

On the occasion of Fashion Graduate Italia 2026, Lineapelle and Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda ETS renew their commitment to supporting emerging talent through the “Next Gen Leather Designers” contest, dedicated to the new creative languages of contemporary fashion.

The competition invites students from partner schools to present original projects consisting of mini capsules of outfits and/or accessories using leather as the main material, promoting research that combines innovation, sustainability, and design experimentation.

Among the finalist projects are those by two students from our Fashion Design degree course: Asia Angiovini and Arianna Portolano.

Selected among the finalists is an outfit from Asia Angiovini’s “Atargatis” collection, inspired by the mythological figure of the mermaid. The project interprets the female body as a hybrid identity, capable of blending cultures, instincts, and different visual languages into a seductive and powerful presence. Central to the collection is the use of vegetable-tanned lamb and calf leather, shaped through wet-forming techniques and combined with silk georgette and tulle treated with experimental dyeing and burning processes.

Also selected is a bag from Arianna Portolano’s “Hajin” collection, a project that explores Egyptian culture through a balance between mythological imagery and contemporary sensibility. Materials and artisanal craftsmanship — from wool fabric to alpaca yarns processed using shaded needle-felting techniques — intertwine with gabardine, leather, and metallic details, creating a ritualistic and tactile aesthetic.

The finalist projects will be showcased in a dedicated exhibition during Lineapelle 2026, taking place in Milan from September 15 to 17. The final winner of the contest will be announced during the event.

Rosemary Palella, YKK finalist at Milano Moda Graduate

A new milestone for Istituto Modartech in the fashion landscape: Rosemary Palella, a student in the Fashion Design degree program, is among the finalists of the twelfth edition of Milano Moda Graduate, an initiative promoted by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana that highlights the best talents from Italian fashion and design schools.

Rosemary will represent the Institute in the YKK category, presenting an outfit from her collection “Buffer” to an international jury. The project stems from a reflection on the concept of personal space, transforming the garment into an element capable of creating distance, protection, and identity. Through ventilation systems and inflatable structures, the fabric expands to generate three-dimensional volumes that redefine the silhouette and the relationship between the individual and the environment. Gathered details and balloon-like shapes shape the space around the body, while workwear inspiration is reinterpreted through the language of contemporary outerwear using smart materials and high-performance technical solutions.

For the creation of the collection, an aeronautical fabric designed to manage large volumes of air was used, integrated with a self-developed technical system to ensure lightness and structural stability. The project is completed by a flash-reflective fabric, designed to react to the lights of the urban night environment and create an immediate visual impact.

In addition to the runway show, Rosemary will take part in workshops and meetings with YKK, including a visit to the company’s production hub—an educational experience that represents an important opportunity to engage with both the creative and industrial sides of the fashion world.

Students meet companies at Career Days

From May 20 to 22, Istituto Modartech renews its appointment with Career Days, an event dedicated to bringing together young talent and the world of work, confirming itself as a benchmark for dialogue between education and the creative industry.

Over 350 interviews across three days will involve companies from the fashion and communications sectors, which will meet final-year students of the Bachelor’s degrees in Fashion Design and Communication Design, along with participants in the Master in Fashion Hi-Tech and the two-year program in Fashion Product Management, as well as specialist profiles graduating from the Web & Graphic Design course.

The event represents an important opportunity for exchange for companies and professionals, who will be able to get to know emerging creative profiles up close through portfolios and projects developed during their training path, with particular attention to technical skills and soft skills. The aim is to promote the activation of curricular internships and create new opportunities for professional collaboration.

Market demand confirms strong demand in the fashion sector for roles specialized in product development, pattern making, prototyping and materials research. There is also growing demand for profiles related to communication and digital marketing, including content creators, social media management, brand identity, graphic design and web design. Career Days will also offer a look at ongoing transformations in the creative sector: artificial intelligence, 3D design, digital modeling, advanced CAD software, and virtual prototyping tools.

Among the participating companies are leading names such as Fendi, Furla, Prada, Loro Piana, Burberry, Etro, Max Mara Fashion Group, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Pitti Immagine, Intarget, Jets and many other companies and communication agencies.

An event that confirms itself as a privileged observatory on changes in the labor market and a concrete opportunity to invest in the professionals who will guide the future of fashion and communication.

Modartech and Pontedera Calcio together for the new 2026/27 jersey

Modartech and U.S. Città Pontedera have joined forces in a collaboration that enhances the local territory and innovation, bringing together two important realities from the Valdera area. From this partnership, together with technical sponsor Erreà, the new official garnet jersey for the 2026/27 sports season was created.

The project involved students from the Communication Design degree course, who were actively engaged in the creative and development process of the kit, with the goal of designing a jersey capable of representing Pontedera’s visual identity while combining aesthetics, comfort, and performance through the use of innovative materials. Fundamental was the support of Erreà, which also guided the students in integrating sustainable practices, promoting a production process more attentive to the environment and to the values of social responsibility.

The winning jersey was selected through a social media vote among three finalist proposals. The final choice went to the design by Maria Alessia Bertocchi: a jersey that tells the story of Pontedera Calcio through symbolic details, such as the 60 lines dedicated to the club’s record points total in 2023, the 11 stripes referencing the team and the bridge symbol of the city, and the hexagons inspired by the historic victory against the national team in 1994. A design that weaves together memory, identity, and garnet pride.

Istituto Modartech at Bright Festival 2026

Saturday, April 18, Istituto Modartech will take part in Bright Festival 2026 in Florence, presenting, as part of Bright EDU, the lecture “Creativity, Design and Fashion Under the Sign of AI”, a seminar aimed at exploring the role of artificial intelligence in contemporary creative processes.

The meeting will examine how AI is becoming an increasingly central tool in the creative landscape. In particular, the lecture will analyze the potential of generative artificial intelligence in transforming ideation and visual design processes: from the creation of images and patterns to the development of concepts for branding and communication, opening up new expressive perspectives across art, fashion, design, and technology.

This initiative is part of the Bright Festival program, a cultural event dedicated to digital creativity and the professions of the future, which every year offers a rich calendar of meetings, workshops, lectures, demos, and talks featuring leading voices from the world of innovation.

The Pitti trade shows as told by Modartech students

A new collaboration for Istituto Modartech: students from the Communication Design degree course will take part in an educational project aimed at telling the story of the upcoming editions of Pitti Immagine, bringing their creative vision of the June 2026 trade shows to TikTok.

At the heart of the initiative are the three key events of the international fashion system: Pitti Uomo, Pitti Bimbo, and Pitti Filati. This ambitious challenge will see students, acting as content creators, collaborate with Pitti’s communication team to strengthen the events’ digital presence, with a strategic focus on the platform.

The collaboration includes both an educational and operational pathway, combining research, analysis, and the development of a dedicated content strategy. Following an initial observation phase during the winter editions of the trade shows, the strategy for June 2026 will take shape over the coming months, with the goal of creating innovative formats and an authentic narrative capable of engaging with the languages, trends, and codes of new generations.

With this project, Istituto Modartech reaffirms its commitment to building training paths that are strongly connected to the professional world, where creativity and experimentation become concrete tools for professional growth.

Forms of Creativity: the Value of Made in Italy

On the occasion of National Made in Italy Day, on April 15, Istituto Modartech opens its doors to a Creative Exhibition dedicated to Italian creativity as a driver of innovation and cultural value. The initiative aims to bring younger generations closer to the craft and design professions that make Italian manufacturing unique.

The exhibition, titled “Forms of Creativity – The Value of Made in Italy”, presents a selection of projects created by students from the Fashion Design degree program, representing an educational journey that combines experimentation, a contemporary vision and craftsmanship. At its core lies Italian know-how: the fusion of technical expertise, design thinking and creative research that defines the Modartech DNA.

Craftsmanship and design become tools for exploration: tradition is reinterpreted through an innovative lens, while materials and techniques tell stories of identity and expertise. The projects on display reflect a conscious approach to design, balancing craftsmanship, sustainability, innovation and technology, creating an ongoing dialogue between past and future through the perspective of a new generation of designers.

The Creative Exhibition is realized with the support of a network of technical partners, artisans, professionals and companies from the sector, highlighting a supply chain of excellence where attention to detail, manufacturing culture and specialized skills remain defining elements of Made in Italy.

Interview with Flavia Pelliccia

Flavia Pelliccia chose the Fashion Design degree program at Istituto Modartech in search of an environment able to combine the value of artisanal craftsmanship with innovation. Throughout her studies, she strengthened her passion for drawing and handcraft techniques, while also developing a deep interest in textiles, prototyping, and pattern making.

In the collection “SER/ESTAR”, Flavia explores the conflict between authentic identity and social construction, translating it into a dialogue between untamed nature and human intervention. The aim is to create unique, sustainable, and long-lasting garments, designed for a genderless audience with a sensitivity to art and avant-garde fashion.

Alongside her academic path, she completed an internship at Ciemmeci Group, working on the NEF – Natural Ethical Fur project, focused on the development of sustainable solutions within the fur industry.

Modartech students at the forefront of the CHEAP project

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the birth of David Lynch, one of the most influential directors, artists, and visionaries of contemporary cinema, CHEAP – the independent project dedicated to promoting Street Art – once again takes over urban space with a new poster campaign of strong visual and conceptual impact: ICONS Directed by David Lynch.

Within this context, Modartech students took part in the international open call launched by CHEAP. Participants were asked to process a form of public mourning through the language of the poster, drawing inspiration from Lynch’s surreal, unsettling, and poetic visions. The result is a series of works deeply aligned with his imagery, spanning a range of visual languages, from comics to illustration, photography to graphic design.

Out of more than 400 posters submitted from 14 countries, CHEAP selected a shortlist of projects to be displayed across Bologna’s urban landscape, from the historic city center to the surrounding hills. Among these, four posters were created by students from the Communication Design degree program. What emerges is a collective and fragmented portrait of David Lynch, a mosaic of visions that represents, for Modartech, a valuable opportunity for dialogue between education, experimentation, and public space, highlighting communication design as a critical, cultural, and narrative tool.
