Modartech Alumni – Interview with Chiara Cerasuolo

Interview with the former student of Istituto Modartech, today in Valentino.

Interview with the former Istituto Modartech student, today at Valentino.

My name is Chiara, I am 26 years old and I live in Follonica. I attended the Fashion Technology course at the Istituto Modartech in Pontedera which ended last year. My professional passions are fashion and all craftsmanship in every aspect and form. I currently work for Valentino in Scandicci.

1. Are you a graduate of the Istituto Modartech: how has your study path contributed to your career path?

I discovered the Istituto Modartech on the web and I fell in love with the figure of a pattern maker who, for me, satisfied both the artistic and the technical and manual part of the work on a garment.

The institute helped me to have a 360-degree view of everything that is this world from the stylistic aspect to the modeling one.

They have proved to be an indispensable basis for entering the world of work in particular the lessons of History of Costume, History of Art, Merchandise and Design.

Thanks to Modartech I had the opportunity to participate in a contest promoted by Peuterey for the creation of two feathered outerwear working in clothing design with the Lectra CAD Software Suite.

2. Tell us about your experience in Valentino.

At the Valentino Academy in Turin we made a complete garment from the creation of the model to the seam which proved to be particularly laborious both from the point of view of placement on the fabric and from that of the package.

It was really interesting to understand and realize how much some products are almost real works of art for the manual dexterity, craftsmanship and creativity that is behind every single work. It was certainly a unique opportunity to be able to see so closely an important fashion house and to become aware of aspects that cannot even be imagined from school desks or in reality smaller ones. These experiences have allowed me to continue my career in Valentino.

3. What advice do you feel to give to the young people who are entering a career in the fashion world?

The best lesson I learned is that to reach certain levels in the fashion world one must have as broad a basic knowledge as possible. Everything you need, even what at first may seem out of your own perspective will almost certainly be useful again in any branch of this sector. To become good in this sector it takes a lot of experience but passion and determination are indispensable qualities that are always rewarded!
