Modartech Alumni Interview: Laura Stellato

Former student of the Fashion Design course, post-diploma course for the achievement of the First Level Academic degree.

Working in the fashion system in prestigious fashion houses is the dream of many young people. However, passion, creativity and talent are not enough to guarantee a career in this sector. An ad hoc training course is essential in order to acquire specialized technical skills.

Let’s discover together the path in the fashion world of Laura Stellato, a former student of the Fashion Design course, a post-graduate course for the achievement of the First Level Academic diploma in Fashion Design, qualification equivalent to the Short Degree.

1. Who are you and what do you do?

I’m Laura Stellato, I’m 23, I’m from Livorno, but now I live in Modena for work reasons. I am a junior menswear designer and I have been working for Armani Exchange for a few months after having completed a curricular internship of about 6 months. For those unfamiliar with AX (Armani Exchange) is the fast fashion line of the Armani fashion house. At the same time, I graduated in Fashion Design at the Modartech Institute in Pontedera.

The school has given me the opportunity to live experiences, work on projects, participate in competitions that have articulated my course of study and have enriched my knowledge and above all personal self-esteem.

In December 2016 I was ranked third in the competition led by the company Esemplare . In January I was a guest at the TV show “I Fatti Vostri” for the program conduced by Stefano Dominella “Moda di Moda” presenting the look created for the second year-end fashion show inspired by the seventieth anniversary of the Vespa.

In July 2017 I participated as a finalist in the National Competition for Young Fashion Designers Profession, promoted by CNA Federmoda in collaboration with Alta Roma.

Together with my other school colleagues, I worked on the costumes for the 11 Lune Cavalleria Rusticana Festival, the project consisted in making clothes using industrial scraps in collaboration with the Waste Recycling company SCART.

2. What brought you to Istituto Modartech and why did you choose it?

It was my instinct to take me to Modartech. A choice given by the instinct that initially turned into a conviction in pursuing the goals that were given to me and that I set for myself.

I trusted and in return I received great opportunities and satisfactions. I have grown a lot. Over time I understood more and more how the fashion industry fascinated me, inspired me and encouraged me because in my opinion it is the perfect combination of creativity and professionalism, which very much reflects my way of being.
