Modartech Alumni – Interview with Chiara Andromedi

A fashion school is valid if provides its students with the right tools to be attractive in the world of work.

The ideas and the passion for fashion if are not adequately cultivated and conveyed towards an ad hoc path, they do not allow to enter the market. The skills combined with creativity are the best business card for those who want to work in fashion.

One of the flagships of Istituto Modartech‘s training proposal is the three-year course dedicated to the training of the modern fashion designer.

We interviewed Chiara Andromedi, a former student of the Fashion Design course, to talk about her experience.

1. Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Chiara Andromedi, I am 25 years old and I come from Livorno.

I am a young designer and I work at the Giorgio Armani Operations of Modena in the Woman Style office of the Armani Exchange (AX) line.

Currently I am part of a team composed of head designers, junior designers and graphic designers with whom I collaborate on a daily basis.

Work requires a lot of responsibility and a lot of speed, both mental and physical: from the search for inspiration for the new collections to the creation of moodboards, color charts and new proposals.

The working process passes through a continuous exchange of ideas and novelties, for this reason, there are numerous meetings with suppliers and merchandisers to best achieve each objective. The work also includes a more funny part between shooting, fitting and look book.

2. What are the skills and abilities acquired during the course of study at Istituto Modartech that you have implemented in your professional activity?

Thanks to Modartech I was able to relate to many professionals and figures in the fashion industry, so the ability to manage work with industry experts is certainly one of the many lessons received.

As for the technical skills Modartech trained me on the research of trends, colors, fabrics, mood, on the realization of tech packs and therefore on the use of digital programs like Illustrator and Photoshop, which I use daily during work.

3. What advice would you give to those who want to pursue a career like yours?

I advise to always have so much curiosity and a lot of determination, but above all to always be ready to upset the plans and be open mind.

We must always enrich our cultural baggage through any form of art (books, music, museums, cinema, travel …) and be attentive to everything around us, making the most of every new knowledge. Creativity!

Chiara is only at the beginning of a long and promising career in the world of the fashion system that we are sure will see her protagonist of numerous successes and we at Istituto Modartech make her our best wishes for a life full of achievements and satisfactions.
