Milano Moda Graduate is the contest organized by the National Chamber of Italian Fashion, which was created with the aim of promoting and celebrating the excellent work of Italian fashion schools and the creative talent of fashion and design students.
The student of the Fashion Design course Chiara Balla won the “CNMI Award”, first prize of Milano Moda Graduate 2023.
A prestigious award given by an international jury, made up of numerous experts in the fashion sector,which rewarded the creativity and inclusive values underlying its collection “Burrnesh”, inspired by the women of the Balkans who dressed and behaved like men and were recognized as such by society.
From here was born a collection halfway between tradition and innovation, made with fabrics of Italian origin and Casentino cloth, where small details such as are highlighted handmade prints and embroidery, the result of research and experimentation.

Focus on the collections: “The Last Era” by Angelica Sarti, inspired by the geometric and symmetrical shapes of human constructions, however, inserting details and processes that refer to an unstoppable nature that fights the human being; “Design” by Matteo Calandrino, in the special section YKK Italia, main partner of the initiative, characterized by transformable garments: from one garment we get two, a sleeve transforms into a bag and a scarf into a hood.
The student of the Fashion Design course Emilia Torcini won the Vogue Talents Award during the Milano Moda Graduate 2021 edition.
A prestigious award awarded by a jury chaired by Carlo Capasa, president of National Chamber of Italian Fashion and exponents of the fashion system including ETRO, MAX&Co, Fendi, Rinascente, Zegna e Class Editori, delivered by Sara Sozzani Maino, Deputy Editor in Chief Vogue Italia and Head of Vogue Talents, which rewarded the creativity and inclusive values underlying the collection “Disability is not a limit, you are the limit“.
The award includes the launch of an exclusive editorial dedicated to the student published on Vogue Talents.
On the catwalk of the Museo della Permanente there was also great appreciation for the slow fashion garments of the emerging designer Sara Giannini, who brought themes and trends to the stage linked to the environmental emergency, sustainability and reuse with his collection “ARYA“.
The Modartech student Giulia Barbieri won the 6th edition of Milano Moda Graduate.
The young creative from the Fashion Design course, brought to the Museum catwalk of the Permanente of Milan the “Look Over“ collection created in the laboratories of the Institute and presented as a preview at the Digital Fashion Show.
The collection won over the international jury chaired by Carlo Capasa, president of the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana and by important fashion and communication companies including: Ferragamo, Tsum, Harper’s Bazar, La Rinascente, MF Fashion, ETRO, Vogue Talents, Sugar and Penelope.
A round of applause to Serena Carpita, student of the Fashion Design course, finalist in the YKK Italia section with an outfit from the entirely sustainable collection “Chimney Sweep Shout” revisited with the closing accessories of the Japanese company.
At the Milano Moda Graduate event, in the special section YKK Italia, the main partner of the initiative, three students from course in Fashion Design.
Focus on the collections: “The Land Of All” by Alma Rinaldelli with ethnic forms linked to the tragedy of migrants in the Mediterranean Sea; “La Violenza Invisibile” by Jessica di Lupo, a collection against the phenomenon of cyberbullying and composed of college-style outfits; “Imperfection Is Perfection” by Cinzia Cerri, with garments that enhance physical imperfections through unconventional accessories and outfits with deconstructed and asymmetrical shapes.
Istituto Modartech was present during the event with a static installation of the “Dynamic Pattern Cutter” collection, which presents the sartorial canvases created during the course Fashion Technology – CAD Clothing Pattern Maker.
The fashion show instead focused on the Creative Project Vespa Style and the Urban Rider collection, projects dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Vespa Piaggio which saw the students’ works as protagonists between design and heritage, technology and eco-sustainability.
On the catwalks the creations of the students of the Fashion Design courses, Web & Graphic Design and Fashion Technology– Pattern Designer CAD Clothing.
During the first edition of Milano Moda Graduate, in collaboration with Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda, the spaces of the Triennale were the setting for an installation of clothes and accessories created by the students.
The event saw the presentation of some clothes from the collections created by the students of the Fashion Design course on the theme of robotics, a project created taking inspiration from the Robotics Atelier of the BioRobotics Institute of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and the creations of the students of Shoes in Italy-Techniques for the artisanal production of Made in Italy footwear, IFTS project financed by the Tuscany Region.
The students’ works on display at Milano Moda Graduate were presented at LineaPelle in Milan, at Expo 2015, in the area dedicated to Valdera for Expo in Milan and at the Creactivity event in Pontedera.
