From October 9 to 12, Uzbekistan hosts High Italian Fashion, an international project conceived and curated by Stefano Dominella, Honorary President of the Gattinoni fashion house and Scientific Director of Istituto Modartech. For the first time, Italian haute couture reaches Central Asia, featuring a unique event in which Istituto Modartech participates with its young talents, fostering intercultural dialogue and celebrating the creativity of Made in Italy.
Four days of culture and beauty will enliven the prestigious Alisher Navoi Opera and Ballet Theatre in Tashkent. A full program of conferences, masterclasses, exhibitions, tableaux vivants, and fashion shows will celebrate Italian creative excellence, with a focus on sustainability and innovation. Guests include Guillermo Mariotto and numerous Uzbek designers, creating a meeting point between tradition and the future.
The event will open with the exhibition “Italy in Fashion, from the 1950s to today”, showcasing iconic creations by the most important Italian designers. Following this, the tableau vivant “The Art of Making – Creativity & Responsibility” will feature twelve models wearing creations by Istituto Modartech students, highlighting the talent of the new generation of designers. Three collections by Fashion Design graduates will remain on display for the duration of the event:
- SARA DE SANTIS | “SAVE ME FROM TEARS”
A reinterpretation of early 20th-century menswear that deconstructs traditional codes of masculinity to open up a fluid, free, and inclusive wardrobe. Tailoring meets bold prints and handcrafted details, creating a visual manifesto that celebrates vulnerability as a form of strength. - MARTINA DI DIO | “FERMATE IL MONDO VOGLIO SCENDERE”
Inspired by Mafalda’s cartoons, the collection embodies the rebellious and ironic spirit of the beloved character, turning each look into a wearable comic strip. Vibrant colors meet darker tones, playful textures contrast with rigid surfaces, an aesthetic that entertains while prompting reflection. - CHIARA FERMALVENTO | “E VISSERO FELICI E CONTENTI“
The fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea” is reimagined with padded garments and down jackets that act as a light, protective armor. Fairy-tale prints, puffed sleeves, and handcrafted details create an aesthetic suspended between magic and modernity, celebrating the independence and strength of today’s princesses.
Three collections presenting different visions yet united by the same creative energy, bringing a strong message to Uzbekistan: Made in Italy is a living tradition, constantly renewed by the talent of tomorrow’s young creatives.
Istituto Modartech will also take part in a masterclass dedicated to Uzbek high school students, where the event’s speakers will present Italian haute couture and the new young talents of creativity.
The initiative was officially presented on September 26 at the Italian Senate, highlighting the institutional and cultural significance of a project that combines fashion with the promotion of new generations.
