1. Tell us a little about yourself

My name is Gaia Marchi, I am 22 and I was born in Pontedera.
Fashion has always been my passion, the mean I use to express what I have inside. My motto is “Why not?”.
I am absolutely convinced that in life it is better not to have regrets and therefore, once I finished high school, I decided to try to make my big dream come true and I enrolled in the Course in Fashion Design of Istituto Modartech.
My experience at the company CaféNoir gave me the real sense of things, a dimension where theory and practice have no separation points.

2. Why did you choose Istituto Modartech?

I chose Modartech because the training program of the Course in Fashion Design is a 360° program: from style to modeling, from manual drawing to digital illustration, from merchandise to history of fashion and art. I was also looking for a welcoming environment, made up of real people and that made me feel followed on my path from the beginning to the end.

3. How did the Fashion Design course influence your career path?

Over the three years I have gained more confidence and have learned to believe more in my ideas and my abilities. This, together with the skills learned especially in the graphic field with software such as Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop, proved to be fundamental for my path within the bag style office of CaféNoir.

4. What role do you play and what are your daily activities?

I study and experiment! After my experience in the CaféNoir style office, I think about my future and what I would like to create…

5. What advice would you give to people aspiring to become Fashion Designer?

The world of fashion, unlike what you believe when you are not in it, is not easy at all: frenetic, insatiable, pretentious, ambitious. Thoughts like “I could have done more” and “maybe this isn’t for me” will often surprise you, but never stop trusting the process.
Throw yourself down, but always get back up, more motivated than before.
This world encourages you to give your best, to overcome the limits you thought having.
Be humble, helpful and passionate, people will notice these qualities.
